A major win for Redlanders living on our Southern Moreton Bay Island's (SMBI) is on the way, with the launch of the SMBI Parking Relief Package — a long-overdue solution to ease the pressure on island commuters.
This package delivers on a key commitment made at the 2024 election to reduce the complexity of commuting for SMBI families, workers, and seniors.
It's all about recognising the unique challenges islanders face — and finally delivering the support they deserve.
It’s a big win for our island communities — and proof that when you raise your voice, and your local MP listens, real change can happen.
This initiative will give islanders greater choice — making it more viable to take their vehicle across, rather than relying on foreshore parking on the mainland.
A new car park at Weinam Creek will provide an increased amount of parking at the ferry terminal.
Fully subsidised membership for Bay Island Car Share will give residents more flexible travel options on the mainland.
We have also made 50c public transport fares permanent with an improved public transport connectivity.
Please reach us at Redlands@parliament.qld.gov.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Only registered SMBI residents are eligible to receive the 50% vehicle ferry discount. Visitors are not included.
Head to Sealink’s website to download the resident vehicle application form.
From today residents will be able to register for the 50% subsidy, with the scheme to commence just weeks later.
